Guest Post: Dave Loves Voltron!

After hearing about the website www.thinkgeek.com from my friend Mike, I finally remembered to check it out and I'm glad I did! Tons of stuff to love on that site but one thing stood out above all others...a Voltron USB stick! As Kelly likes to say...love it...want it...=)

When I was growing up, one of my favourite toys/cartoons was Voltron. It was a show about these five characters who piloted 5 giant robot lions that joined together to form the super powerful Voltron! I always had a love for things that joined together, like the Constructicon Transformers and such. Over time, my brothers and I managed to get all 5 lions and we were able to play with them to form Voltron ourselves! The pic below is the version of the toys that we had, but unfortunately I think they made their way into one of our garage sales growing up. I'd love to get my hands on a set of this version but they are super rare on Ebay...and pricey when you do find one. Most of them come like the one below with missing lids of where the pilots sit.

I'll share one last Voltron memory with you before I hand over the reigns back to Kelly. I'll always remember one special birthday where my Uncle Guy asked me if I wanted to come with him to a toy store to pick my own present. I was so excited! Pick my own present?!? Woohoo! So we headed into the big city and went to a sort of Toys R Us place and down the aisles we went. After awhile I was looking up to one of the top shelves and saw the Castle of Lions! Uncle Guy brought it down for me and I thought to myself...this thing is huge! There's no way he'll go for this...it's probably way too much money! But Uncle Guy must have seen the gleam in my eyes and asked if that's what I wanted...and yes it was! Definitely spoiled...=) Check out the pic below for the toys that I spent hours with, and thanks for reading!

  1. Love it, great guest post. I love thinkgeek.com I was lucky enough to order a few things like the geek dad book and the Han Solo in carbonite ice cube trays of course. Voltron was fun I never fully got into it, like most things..lol but I do remember having the middle black one. See can't even remember his name. (fail). Although I love Kelly's blog this has a much more appealing theme for me. Way to share you guys!

  5. So somebody ordered the USB stick and he also now owns a 1984 Voltron. Funny how that happens!
