Strange fruit

Have you seen one of these before?

It's called a kiwano (or horned melon). Dave and my cousin picked it up when they were grocery shopping last night. This is what it looked like inside:

So weird! They scraped the gelatinous green stuff into bowls and ate it:

I think I'd describe it as squishy and watery with tons of cucumber-like seeds. It tasted kind of like bananas...and maybe a little like melon. Honestly, I only had a little bit because the texture was a little too weird for me! It was good to try...but it won't be added to our grocery list anytime soon!
