Antiques here I come

I'm very excited because tomorrow my friend and I are going antique shopping. Last time we went I spent quite a bit of money and came home with some fabulous things - two teacups, a cake stand, two aprons, a wooden yard stick, and a glass bottle from the 40's. Here's a pic of the cake stand I got (for 15 bucks!):

And here's a pic (sorry it's not a very good one) of one of the teacups I bought. It's Tiffany blue, white, and gold. So very pretty:

I certainly hope to score at least another teacup to add to my collection. This antique store is in a little town where my friend's grandma lives and it is fantastic...super nice stuff, clean, well-organized, and good prices. Tomorrow, the little town is having a flea market out front of the store as well as garage sales throughout the town. I wonder what treasures I will find and be bringing home with me!

Some fine art

So I was reading a blog...as I like to do...and saw this image of a pretty painting and I had to see more. The blog it was on is called 'with two cats' and she always finds great things on etsy. Here's an image of the painting. It's by 'janethillstudio':

Lovely. Here's another one I like:

Love the classic, vintage look of these ladies. This one is also great:

Love her paintings. One day I would like more real art on my walls. I will soon show you my only real art (which was made by someone who is beautiful and I adore her).

What is my favourite colour?

I really don't know...but what I do know is that I'm okay with the possibility that I have 4 favourites! Red, pink, yellow, and green:

What can I say? Perhaps I'm indecisive, perhaps I love colours too much, or perhaps it's that I don't believe you can only have one favourite colour...much like I don't think you can really only have one favourite song (I mean seriously...one?...out of all the great songs out there. I'm not sure how that's even possible).

Here's what I think about my favourite colours:

Red - What's not to love? It is the colour of love, romance, passion, etc., etc. I've loved red for a very long time...I've had a lot of red clothes, a red couch, and red bedding. And now I have a red car. Red is so eye-catching and vibrant. I love seeing it used in home design. I only recently put my red bedding back on the bed...and man I love it. I know that you're technically supposed to use calming colours in a bedroom but I disagree with that. Red is great in any room! It's just a great colour really.

Pink - Ahhh, what can I say about pink? It's pretty, lovely, feminine, beautiful...you get the idea! I love the girliness of pink. It can be soft and sweet and bright and fun...there really are very few shades of pink that I don't like. I had to have pink at our wedding...and I kept it under control (I think, anyways!) by only having pink roses in the most beautiful shade. I like wearing pink, having pink toenails, and really, what would life be like without pink lipgloss? I have yet to use pink in home design...I mean in my adult life. I had the best pink curtains when I was young and my grandma had made me the most fantastic quilt with a pink background. Now that I think of it I also had light pink sheets. And there was pink in my doll wallpaper as well! Yep, pink is wonderful.

Yellow - Oh yellow! Definitely my most recent love. I fell fast and I fell hard. And I believe it all started with a yellow purse (which I bought and love!). Then I had to bring some yellow into my house. I'm still working on accenting my kitchen with yellow and now I'm seriously thinking of bringing yellow into the bathroom off the kitchen too. I also recently bought a yellow t-shirt and yellow nail polish. Yellow is a pretty popular colour nowadays and maybe I'm just jumping on the bandwagon but I love how bright, sunny, and happy this colour is. It always catches my eye and I just want more of it.

Green - Mmmm, green. Also a more recent addition to my favourites. Now, not all shades of green are created equal...I love lime green and kelly green (fun fact: I went to high school with a boy who had the last name Green and if I'd married him I would be Kelly Green...and yes, I would have changed my name to that for sure!). I have a green cardigan from Esprit that I may wear until it has holes in it because it is the best shade of green ever. I don't have a lot of green in my wardrobe, although I would like to. Green is fun and bold, and the colour of luck. It represents nature...and of course the Riders (Green is the colour, football is the game, we're all together and winning is our aim...that's for you Dave).

More of my garden

Wow! I can't get over how big everything is getting in my garden. Look at it now:

What a difference a couple weeks makes! The scarlet runner green beans have grown so much and look so pretty on the bamboo teepee:

My friend Alissa came over last night and we discovered that I have potatoes that I need to start eating! Yum...I love baby potatoes:

My pepper plants are doing quite nicely and we discovered that they are starting to grow peppers:

So cute! And the sugar peas are ready to eat...and they are absolutely delicious:

The tumbler tomatoes are also doing great! Big news...I ate three little tomatoes yesterday! I'm still not completely loving them...man, that squishy burst of juice and seeds really gets me! But I can now say I have eaten a total of 5 cherry tomatoes this summer and I plan to eat more! They really are too cute:

And it was also exciting to see that the huge roma tomato plant is starting to produce:

And there's so much more well on its way! And I really have been neglecting it lately. Good thing it has been so low maintenance...everything is so big, there's really very little room for weeds to grow and with all the rain we have gotten, I've only watered it 2 or 3 times this whole summer. I really am loving having a garden...it's so fun to see everything grow!

Back from Vegas!

Oh how I love love love Las Vegas! We had a great time...as I knew we would! And yep, I want to go back again. This time around, I did a little more shopping. We went to the Fashion Show Mall, the Premium Outlet Center, and the beautiful Crystals!

I went to Kate Spade and bought a purse that I absolutely love:

And I got a beautiful necklace from Tiffany & Co.!!! If you remember my wish list, I decided on #2. It's silver with a little diamond in a bezel setting. I picked it because it looks so delicate and classic. I wore it today and couldn't help looking at myself in the mirror a little too frequently just to look at it!

My only other purchases were a yellow (!) t-shirt from Michael Kors, some underwear from Victoria's Secret, and a pair of sandals from Steve Madden. Not that all of this wasn't enough!!!

I did enjoy the shopping but I have to say there are so many other things about Vegas that are just as good or even better!

This is for Scooter

Came across some awesome photography on one of my fave blogs 'Green is the new black' a bit ago and had to share. The photographer's name is Mike Stimpson and he's from the UK (check out his website here - and if you're interested, go to artist's bio for links to sites to see other work that is for sale). Here are some of my faves:

I think they're great - so creative and really well photographed. I may have to order some one day. This might be weird but I think they would be great in a bathroom...unexpected, fun to look at...why not?

A very wet garden

Well today it rained...again! A pretty intense downpour really. And it shows:

Huge puddles! It'll take a couple days of sun for these to go away. I'd sure like to get rock out there on the ground someday soon! Can you believe how big everything is? The potatoes are out of control! And do you see the red little tumbler tomatoes:

So exciting! I actually can't wait to eat one of these...and I truly am not a fan of tomatoes! But maybe that will change once I try one that has been grown in my very own garden!
